Arlington Heights Fire Fighters

Current Events:
A Brief History of AHFD
In September of 1894 the Village of Arlington Heights formed its first fire department. Thirty-seven men were hand selected by the village to form the Arlington Heights Volunteer Fire Department. Arlington Heights would stay as a volunteer/paid on premise department until 1957 when the first fulltime firefighters were hired. In 1972 the paramedic program was established creating a dual role as fire and rescue for the village. 115 years later the Arlington Heights Fire Department has 105 members working out of 4 fire stations responding to over 9,000 emergency calls a year.

Pensions Explained...
This is an excellent article written by an attorney in Urbana, IL in response to a newspaper article that blamed firefighter pensions for a local tax increase.  This attorney does an excellent job explaining how pension underfunding started... and who is to blame

Brothers & Sisters,
It is once again that time of year for the MDA Fill the boot.  There are 2 dates that we will go out and collect.  Those dates are Friday Aug 20th (Gold) at 730am-10am and 3pm-6pm, Friday Aug 27th (Black) 730am-10am and 3pm-6pm.  We will be collecting at the same corners at Arlington Heights rd and PAlatine and Rand and Palatine.  Depending on how many people show up we could spread out to other intersections.
Thanks and hope to see you all out there for a great cause.
